The Forest of Dean, a green island nestled between two rivers; the mighty Severn and the gentle Wye.
This ancient forest has had a rather traumatic past.

By Victorian times it was a major site of industry; its noisy landscape greatly scarred by coal and iron mining, quarrying and associated industries.Use this App to explore the Forest of Deans "Family cycle trail" which follows the route taken by the Severn and Wye steam Railway, including the Mineral Loop and crossing the Central Railway.Features:- 30 Points of interest to explore as you travel this exiting trail.- Offline mapping based on the 1920, highly detailed, 6 inch to the mile OS map.
- GPS located position shows your exact location on the map.- Stunning, GPS triggered, "Fade images" show a transition from historic photo to modern landscape.Bug fixes and improvements.

"Fantastic Forest of Dean history app, love the now and then photos"

"Interesting app - however a few points: [1] it's ENORMOUS, presumably on account of the fading images. Fortunately it installed on my S8 but it wouldn't fit on my other phone. [2] I think in Android Oreo the MAP display is not as intended. Although the map button cycles the background map, you can't see it within the tour area because the old map stays resolutely on top. Hence it's difficult to work out where you are since you can't see the present day."
David Jones
"Great insight into our history for natives and visitors. Well done to everyone associated with this."
